AFTERMARKET WILDTRAK ROLLER LID DOES NOT WORK

AFTER MARKET WILDTRAK ROLLER LID DOES NOT WORK

This guide will help you to get your Aftermarket Fitted Wildtrak lid working again. Please do not follow this guild if your Lid has been factory fitted onto your factory key fob.

STEP 1: Check the 2nd Key fob that came with your lid to see if this works. The most common issue is your key fob battery has gone flat.

STEP 2: Check the Fuse. This might be a red cable coming off of your + side of the battery and found in a small fuse holder. NOTE: latter model kits the fuse is found within the fuse box which is located in the engine bay next to the battery as seen in the photo below:

STEP 3: If step 1 & 2 did not resolve the issue the next issue might be that your gear cog has jammed up due to the remote key or switch being held down for too long past the end of its travel. When you press the key fob down can you hear a clicking sound? If so follow the steps below.

STEP 4: If your lid is fully closed you will need to lay under the lid to access the front of the Roller Shutter. Remove the two front black plastic covers by pulling them towards you.

STEP 5: Use a T15 / TORK 15 Bit to take out the 2x small bolts on the top of the black kick panel 1x Left & 1x Right on the roller shutter.  Remove the cover by pulling it upwards and towards you.

STEP 6: While looking at the Motor and the gear on the right side test your remote. If the nut is spinning but the gear cog is not then you can use a 13mm Socket to tighten this nut. This might have fixed your issue. A socket gun is recommended.

STEP 7: If step 6 did not fix your issue then use a 13mm socket to remove the Nut on the outside of the gear cog. Use a tool to ply off the gear cog from the shaft. This will be under tension and will require some force. The cog should now pop off.

STEP 8: Check the inside of the gear cog to see if the plastic splines are not worn out. This will cause your motor to free spool and you will require a new gear cog to make the lid work again. Call your local Ford Parts team or you might be able 3D Print a new one.  If the gear cog is fine then test the remote to make sure the shaft spins. If working place the gear cog back onto the shaft and tighten up and test the lid.

This should had resolved your problem. If not please reach out to the KATIPO 4X4 team for more help.
